DistLearn is a flexible and open e-training platform ready to be adopted and/or expanded for your specific educational requirements. It integrates and relies on off-the-shelf products, such as Microsoft Media Technology and gcs/unisal SiMPLE technology, to provide a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use interface.

DistLearn efficiently exploits satellite capacity through IP multicast-only transmissions and at the same time significantly reduces return link requirements and disturbing delay effects via text based student/teacher
interaction.

DistLearn also supports the installation of local class rooms, where Students are directly attached to a local area network or connected to a multicast enabled network.

DistLearn does not require costly hardware, it performs best on a standard PC running Windows with an attached IRD card or USB-box to receive directly from
satellite. In local class rooms only a LAN adaptor card is necessary.

DistLearn runs on the most popular and widely used Windows operating systems (all versions > 95).
