From Vienna: The driving distance between Salzburg and Vienna is about 300 kilometers, along the "Autobahn" (motorway) A1 ("Westautobahn").
From Munich: Munich Airport can be reached by driving about 180 kilometers along Autobahn A8.
From the south of Austria: Carinthia and the South of Austria are accessible via Autobahn A10 ("Tauernautobahn"). The three motorways A1, A8, and A10 meet at a junction south of Salzburg. The German motorway A96 via Munich, and the Autobahn A14 ("Rheintalautobahn") links Salzburg to Tyrol.
Directions: Motorists are advised to exit Autobahn A1 (towards Vienna) at "Salzburg Nord", heading towards downtown Salzburg ("Zentrum"). Then follow signs towards "Maria Plain" and the "Techno-Z" Campus. For your convenience, the route to be taken from the Autobahn exit to the Techno-Z Campus starts in the upper right corner of the map below.
Accomodation: We can recommend the Airport Hotel Salzburg, located near the Salzburg Airport.
Salzburg also is easily accessible by train. Austrian Federal Railroads offer excellent railroad service to all major towns of the country and also direct connections with all major cities in Europe. There is also an extensive network of bus lines operated by the Austrian Postal Service. At Salzburg, the main hub for those buses is opposite of the main railway station ("Hauptbahnhof"). Information on the schedules for trains to and from Salzburg can be obtained online from the Austrian Railroads (ÖBB) or the German Railraods (DB).
Visitors who fly to Salzburg will arrive at Salzburg Airport - W.A.Mozart. Downtown Salzburg and Techno-Z Campus are easily reached by a short taxi ride, or also rather conveniently by public transport - take Bus 2 to the railway station (destination "Bahnhof") and switch to Bus 6 to destination "Jakob-Haringer-Strasse".
For some international visitors, flying in and out of Munich Airport might turn out to be a better bet as far as catching a direct international flight is concerned; Salzburg can be reached from Munich Airport by train (about 2 hours).
The main element of public transport system in Salzburg is the "StadtBus" (town bus). Visitors staying in Salzburg can get to the Techno-Z Campus with a short ride, taking a bus to the "Haupt-Bahnhof" (main railway station), and then either Bus 6 to the stop "Jakob Haringer Strasse" or Bus 3 to the stop "Kirchenstrasse". You may navigate your way by means of the train information database, which also contains the "StadtBus" (town bus) lines and times.
During pleasant weather you can also take a short walk of about 15-20 minutes from the railway station to the Techno-Z Campus.
