HbbTV is the key technology for future interactive television (iTV) services. Based on a variant of HTML and JavaScript, it allows faster development of catch-up services, video-on-demand applications, EPG, interactive advertising, personalization, voting, games, social networking, and other multimedia applications.

All of these applications can run on every HbbTV-enabled TV or Set-to-Box. There are studies which see a market of 23 million HbbTV-enabled devices in Germany for the year 2014.

The ODG product family includes a HbbTV playout system called HTV120. With this product, it is possible to create and transmit own HbbTV-enabled services. The standard output option is ASI for the integration into existing transmission systems. The HTV120 also supports the playout of local audio and video files and the multiplexing and forwarding of transport streams delivered via RTP or UDP. Hence, it is the ideal product for small broadcasters, demanding a powerful and flexible multi-purpose solution.
