HbbTV is the key technology for future interactive television (iTV) services. Based on a variant of HTML and JavaScript, it allows for faster development of catch-up services, video-on-demand applications, EPG, interactive advertising, personalization, voting, games, social networking, and other multimedia applications.

All of these applications run on every HbbTV enabled TV or Set-to-Box. There are studies which forecast a market of 23 million HbbTV-enabled devices in Germany for the year 2014

gcs has several years of experience in developing MHP and HbbTV applications. We successfully implemented projects in the field of tourism and community-based TV.

gcs has developed its own DSM-CC playout stack and HbbTV and MHP playout applications on top of it. Thus, we are able to provide sophisticated solutions, leveraging the tight integration of the event mechanism for event- and synchronisation purposes.
