FLEXcellent Technology

gcs products are based on common platforms, built on a set of proprietary software and hardware modules. These building blocks are based on open standards, aiming to achieve flexibility and extensibility. Our goals are reflected by our technology naming scheme, where you often will encounter patterns like Flex:XYZ (e.g. Flex:DVB) or OpenABC (e.g. OpenDVB Gateway).

Some of our technologies are available for licensing and customization as self-standing hard- or software modules, for use by system integrators.

Many gcs devices are powered by embedded hardware using Intel® Atom© processors. This allows low-energy and low noise operation with completely passive or on-demand fan cooling. This means that many gcs products like analyzers, receivers and gateways can be used in lab and/or office environments. Products for applications with high demands on performance and storage are realized using robust server systems.

By providing a UNIX compatible operating environment, the gcs device platform can also run custom user software. This outstanding characteristic enables to build whole applications upon a single, integrated device. The European Space Agencies (ESA) second generation receiver for the ENVISAT Data Dissemination System (DDS), available from gcs as BSR200-DDS, is just one example. It is built on the basis of the standard BSR200.
