Our Web caching and acceleration products are based on the gcs SiMPLE platform. We offer the following SIMPLE product lines:

Server Systems

The SIM120 is a server-side web optimizer designed for satellite access networks. Deployed at the hub-side of a satellite network operator, the SIM120 filters connections from user clients (Web browsers). The SIM120 implements HTTP content compression to/from user clients, caching, eliminates delays for DNS resolving by user clients and fully supports IPv6.

Client Systems

All SIM2xx solutions are available as dedicate appliances or software packages for Windows (XP, Vista, Win7) and Linux. The underlying SIMPLE technology was built with portability and efficiency in mind and thus also enables integration in embedded solutions (like modems, routers, etc.).

SIM210 - Client-side Static Web Cache

A client-side web caching solution that is able to serve web requests from a static cache, which is a local repository of web archives (e.g. stored on hard-disk, DVD, etc.). Requests for content not found in the static cache are requested through the optimized HTTP/1.1 request engine of the SIMPLE platform.

SIM220 - Client-side Web Cache

Client-side web caching proxy with optimized HTTP/1.1 request engine.

At a glance:

• Cache gets filled through (interactive) user requests
• Small management overhead (main memory usage) allows practically unlimited cache sizes

SIM230 - Client-side Hybrid Web Cache

Combines the advantages of static (SIM21x) and dynamic (SIM22x) client-side web caching.

Client/Server Systems

SIM310 - Push-based Static Web Cache

This system extends the SIM210 client-side solution with a server component (SIM110) that can update/fill the static web caches at the clients by distributing web archives over a multicast transmission channel. Web archives usually contain a whole site or sub-branches of a specific site. Web archives are created and distributed by the SIM110 server component upon manual/managed request or automatically based on online popularity statistics. The SIM110 allows the operator to configure the bandwidth available for the multicast channel and a time plan for archive distribution. Such a time plan may define that archive transmissions should happen during times of low usage, e.g. during the night.

SIM320 - Client/Server-based Web Accelerator

The SIM320 system is client/server-based solution for improving the performance of Web technologies in satellite networks. The SIMPLE clients are able to automatically detect available servers and select one. No configuration of the clients is necessary. This scheme also facilitates load-balancing and redundancy. Clients and servers communicate using an optimized UDP-compatible transport protocol (YTP). The system implements adaptive prefetching, content compression, client and server-side web caching and stream-based compression at the transport layer. The system is is able to log all requests (including requests to client caches) for fulfilling law-enforcement requirements

SIM321 - Client/Server-based Web Accelerator with Multicast extension

Multicast extension for SIM320: includes multicast cache and transport channel along with popularity-based selection of interactive content (requested by clients) for multicast channel. Server-side interface for (pro-active) transmission of web objects on the multicast channel.

At a glance:

• SIM320 combined with multicast technology
• Includes additional multicast (MC) forward-channel which can be received by all (or a group of) clients
• Online popularity statistics for requested objects/sites
• Algorithm selects the transmission path, i.e. regular unicast (only receivable by the requesting client) or MC (to all clients in the group) for each object
• Passive clients can benefit from other requests served over the MC channel by storing/updating the transmitted objects in their caches
• Server-side interfaces for manual and programmatic transmission of content
